Alecia Brantingham, MA, MSW, LCSW, began her professional career working at the Indiana United Methodist Children’s Home as a counselor for teenage girls and their families. After taking some time off, she started working at White’s Residential & Family Services training and licensing foster and adoptive parents. Throughout her 13 years at White’s, Alecia also provided home-based therapy to families, and later served as a clinical supervisor and as a regional manager.
During her time with White’s, she discovered her true passion of working with families who struggle with trauma and attachment issues. In 2013, Alecia joined KidPsych, Inc. before starting her own practice, Strengthening Families, in 2015.
Alecia strives to help families feel understood, supported and equipped to deal with the difficult circumstances they face. She utilizes Theraplay, EMDR and ART, emotional regulation, and narrative work to help individuals and families tell their story. She works with families and adults.
Alecia has experience training professionals and families in the areas of attachment trauma. She is available to lead workshops on this and other related topics.
Alecia is an Intermediate Practitioner with The Theraplay Institute and is a trained Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapist. In addition, she is a trained Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART) therapist as well. She is also a Trust-Based Relational Intervention (TBRI) practitioner.
Alecia graduated from Ball State University with a Bachelor’s in Social Work. She earned a Master’s in Social Work from the University of Kentucky and received a Master’s of Arts in Counseling from Asbury Theological Seminary.
